About Dansal.lk

A free, community-driven map of dansals - the roadside stalls where Sri Lankans give away food and drink during Vesak and Poson - together with the illuminated thoran (pandols) and lantern zones that light up the island at the same time.

A brightly lit Vesak pandol in Sri Lanka

Why we built it

During festival season the whole island comes alive with generosity - but finding out what is happening near you has always meant word of mouth and luck.

We wanted a single, reliable place to see what is open tonight, what they are serving and how to get there - and to make it effortless for organisers to let their neighbours know.

What we stand for

Free, forever
The map and every listing are completely free to use - no account, no sign-up, no catch.
Community-driven
Listings come from organisers and visitors all over the island. The more people add, the better it gets.
Reviewed & trusted
Every submission is checked before it goes live, so what you see on the map is accurate.

How it works

  1. 1

    Add a listing

Drop a pin for a dansal, thoran or lantern zone in under a minute.

  2. 2

    We review it

A quick check keeps the map accurate, safe and spam-free.

  3. 3

    Everyone finds it

It appears on the live map for neighbours and visitors to discover.

This project belongs to the community

The data comes from organisers and visitors across Sri Lanka - the more people contribute, the more useful it becomes. Running a dansal this season? Put it on the map.
