These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of Dansal.lk. By using the site you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
1. About the Service
Dansal.lk is a free, community-driven map that helps people find non-commercial, free charitable food and drink stalls (dansals), thoran (pandols) and Vesak lantern zones during Sri Lanka's Vesak and Poson festivals. The service is provided for personal, non-commercial use. You must be at least 13 years old to add listings.
2. Community Contribution Guidelines
When you add an entry through our submission form, you agree to follow these rules:
- Accuracy: Place the map pin at the actual location of the dansal or display. Falsifying pins or entering misleading details is not allowed.
- Prohibited listings: Do not list commercial businesses, paid food outlets, political events, or promotional or advertising content.
- Respectful content: Submissions and any uploaded images must be respectful and follow community standards. Do not upload unlawful, offensive or infringing content.
Dansal.lk reviews submissions before they appear and may remove any entry that breaks these guidelines, without prior notice.
3. Your Content & Licence
You keep ownership of the content you submit (listing details and images). By submitting content, you grant Dansal.lk a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to host, store, display and distribute that content for the purpose of operating and promoting the service. You confirm that you own the content or have the right to share it, and that displaying it on the map does not infringe anyone else's rights.
4. Reporting Content
If you believe a listing or image is inaccurate, infringes your rights, or should be removed, please report it using the report option on the listing or email hello@dansal.lk with the listing name and location. We will review and act on valid requests promptly.
5. Third-Party Advertisements
To keep the service free and cover hosting and map costs, Dansal.lk displays third-party advertisements. We do not endorse the products, services or websites shown in these ads. Any interaction, purchase or data you share with an advertiser is solely between you and that advertiser. See our Privacy Policy for how advertising cookies are used.
6. Service Availability
Dansal.lk is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We may change, suspend or discontinue any part of the service at any time, and we do not guarantee that the site will always be available, uninterrupted or error-free.
7. Disclaimer & Liability
Important: Listings on Dansal.lk are submitted by community members. Dansal.lk does not verify the safety, food handling, timing or accuracy of any listed event, and provides the service without warranties of any kind.
You use the map and visit listed locations entirely at your own risk. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Dansal.lk is not liable for any inaccuracies, cancellations, food-safety concerns, or any loss or issue arising from your use of the site or from events you find through it.
8. Indemnification
You agree to be responsible for the content you submit and for your use of the site, and to indemnify and hold Dansal.lk harmless from any claims, losses or expenses arising from content you submit or from your breach of these terms.
9. Intellectual Property & Acceptable Use
The Dansal.lk website and its design are owned by the Dansal.lk team. Map data and uploaded images remain the property of their respective owners. You may not scrape data, submit automated or duplicate requests, introduce malicious code, or otherwise attempt to disrupt or overload the service.
10. Suspension & Termination
We may limit, suspend or block access to the service - including removing listings or revoking submission access - for anyone who breaches these terms or misuses the service, without prior notice.
11. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Sri Lanka. Any disputes relating to the site or these terms are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Sri Lanka.
12. Severability
If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may revise these terms at any time. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
